A DROP-IN service for homeless people has put out a plea for new supplies and volunteers to help those living on the streets during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Salvation Army in Chalk Farm runs a service two nights a week for people who are on the streets to come in, have a shower, be given fresh socks and underwear and served a hot meal.
But as the crisis escalates, they are hoping to go from two to five nights a week – and need more hands to help out.

Captain Lorraine Kinnear, told the New Journal: “It is a safe place for people to come, and is run solely by volunteers. At the moment there is not a lot available for homeless people and we are hearing of many having to sit in parks in cold weather.”
She added: “We are in need of donations of food and people to help reach those who need out help.”
